Allan Swanson serves as the Director of Safeguards & Security, with more than 25 years of NNSA security experience as a member of both the contractor and federal security teams.

 

Prior to joining Cogent, he was the General Manager of the Protective Force and Technical Security Services contract at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for SOC and Senior Director for DOE Operations, where he provided corporate direction and functional oversight of SOC’s security and emergency services under DOE contracts. Allan broadened his NNSA security program leadership experience while serving more than ten years in federal program oversight roles at the Sandia Field Office including his role as Assistant Manager for Security and Emergency Services.

In previous roles through his career, Allan served in technical security analyst positions, performing work for the IAEA, international biological security, and the DOD security programs. Having started with LANL as a SPO upon leaving the Marines, he’s held numerous positions within NNSA’s protective force program from Lieutenant to General Manager.  Allan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

 

He and his wife Laurinda have been married since 1994 and have five kids.
